Joseph Albert DiLonardo

Dec. 12, 1927 ~ Sept. 8, 2016

Joe DiLonardo has bid farewell to all of us and his beloved Carson Valley to go home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born to Uliana Marie and Francis Santo DiLonardo in Trenton NJ, he attended Dunellen HS and Rutgers University. Joe moved his family to Carson City in 1977 and later ran for mayor. He became the Chair of the Republican Party of Northern Nevada, and was a Nevada delegate at the 1992 Republican National Convention. Joe organized the International Camel Races in Virginia City, served as the Nevada Day Parade Chair, and volunteered at the Nevada Historical Museum and the League of Women’s Voters. Joe was a genuine people person and generous to his family and friends. Joe enjoyed hunting, boating, skiing and loved playing music. In 1948 he married Mildred Mattox of Bound Brook NJ, his wife of 49 years until her passing in 2007.

He is survived by his brother, Bob; sister, Gina; daughter, Kim; son-in-law, Tim; 5 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and 16 nieces and nephews.

Joe also leaves behind his girlfriend Shirley, who became his companion and heartwarming friend in his final years. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” 2 Cor 5:17.
