Fall festival and “Fun Day”

St. Patrick’s Parish’s first fall festival is tomorrow from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., while Epworth United Methodist Church offers a “Free Fun Day” from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The parish encourages the community to come celebrate autumn with them with enough food to purchase both lunch and dinner, ticketed games for all ages, large raffle prizes and a water slide (weather permitting).

“This is the first year that the St. Patrick parish family is hosting a Fall Festival with hopes it becomes an annual community event,” said Patty Fleming, one of the organizers.

There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, beverages and four multi-cultural food booths including Filipino and Mexican cuisine. Food booth run times will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4:30-7 p.m. There will also be a bounce house, and the game booths will include a beanbag toss, dice roll, ring toss, lollipop pull and fishpond as well as bingo and Frisbee golf areas.

Contests such as a “cake walk” and pie-in-the-face will take place. Dignitaries from around the valley will be in attendance, and festival-goers can vote for who receives a face-full of pie; the raffle ticket winner will be able to toss the pie.

At day’s end, the grand prize raffle will be announced though recipients need not be present. The grand prize is a half beef cut wrapped to the winner’s specifications as well as a freezer to put it in — which will be on display. A second prize is a weekend getaway.

Fundraiser proceeds benefit the building fund used to erect the parish hall. The Elks and local businesses have provided the prizes and other support.

Epworth United Methodist Church’s “Free Fun Day” will take place in the Wolf Center behind the church.

In addition to offering free clothes for all ages including baby items and shoes, there will be free hot dogs, water, a child’s toy and face painting. There will also be a drawing for a simple haircut to be done as well as door prizes and a silent auction.

The church said the event is for everyone and it’s their way of saying “thank you for helping us help others.”

Donation boxes will be present if visitors would like to donate.
