Lady Wave remains unbeaten on the road

The Lady Wave volleyball team continued its hot streak on the road by sweeping Fernley on Wednesday.

Fallon defeated Fernley — 25-20, 25-19 and 25-11 — to improve to 6-1 in the Northern 3A and stay unbeaten (7-0) away from the Elmo Dericco Gym. Fallon faced Dayton (4-2) on Thursday and will take on Lowry (2-3) in Fallon next Thursday.

Senior Whitney Skabelund led a balanced attack with seven kills and seniors Kayla Buckmaster and Haylee Paladini added four. Junior Faith Cornmesser registered five kills while senior Leann Stands had three. Stands was a force at the net, picking up 13 total blocks, including eight solo, while Buckmaster led the team in serving with a pair of aces. Paladini and Skabelund each had five total blocks and Buckmaster had three.

Senior Zoey Swisher paced Fallon with 21 assists and Buckmaster led in digs with seven, followed by sophomore Lorynn Fagg and Paladini each with four.
