July 11, 1946 - Feb .27, 2017

Rondall Ray Hargett, 70, died on February 27, 2017, in a house fire which destroyed his home in Stagecoach, Nevada.

Ron was born on July 11, 1946, in Houston, Texas, the son of Victor W. Hargett and Cleda Bailey Hargett. In 1948 the family moved to Gustine, California, where Ron was raised. He graduated from Gustine Union High School in 1964.

Soon after graduating from high school, Ron joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a flight simulator technician from 1964 through 1968. During his enlistment, he served honorably in Libya and France before returning to the U. S. to complete his service.

Ron lived in Stockton, California for several years before moving to Nevada in 1991. For 14 years until his retirement in 2011, he worked as a test driver for Hodges Transportation, an independent automotive test and research facility near Carson City.

Ron was adventurous, outgoing, and fiercely loyal. He loved his friends, his family, and his Harley-Davidson, not necessarily in that order. His amiable and gregarious nature allowed him to make friends easily wherever he went. We will miss his warmth, his humor, and his irrepressible personality.

Ron is survived by his wife Carol; his daughter Kairee Hargett; stepdaughter Denise Ream; brothers and sisters-in-law Lloyd and Robin Hargett of Washoe Valley, Nevada, and Mike and Katy Hargett of Drury, Missouri; grandchildren Dakoda Machal and Sierra Machal; great-granddaughter Serenity Machal, all of Carson City, Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to attend an informal graveside service at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman, California at 11:00 a.m. on April 29, 2017. A reception will follow the services at the VFW Hall in Gustine, California.
