From California: The members of the Carson Brass Band returned from Markleeville yesterday. They report the Odd Fellows celebration at that place a success — procession, oration, ball, supper, and all. With four horses, the members of the band, six in number, came through from Markleeville to Carson, 42 miles between the hours of 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.

We decline: Yesterday the Appeal received a letter from a California beer firm offering to send us a keg of beer a week if the Appeal would advertise the article. This paper does not advertise any California beer and would advise its readers to drink nothing but beer brewed in this state.
