Teen dies after single-vehicle crash on Tarzyn Road

A 14-year-old  died Saturday night during a single-vehicle crash on Tarzyn Road. According to Churchill County Sheriff Ben Trotter, the Churchill County Sheriff's Office, Fallon/Churchill Volunteer Fire Department, Banner EMS and Federal Fire from NAS Fallon responded at 11:15 p.m.. The vehicle, a 2002 GMC Envoy  was engulfed in flames when deputies arrived on the scene.  A deputy was able to pull two male juveniles, ages 13 and 14, from the burning vehicle.  The driver, a 24-year old man from Phoenix, Ariz., was found in a nearby ditch.  He was transported to Banner and subsequently by CareFlight to Renown Medical Center in Reno.  The 14-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene following unsuccessful life-saving efforts.  The 13-year-old was transported to Banner.  The names of the juveniles are not being released. Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) was contacted and is investigating the crash. They also assisted in Renown as alcohol is suspected to be involved.  The incident is still under investigation by the Churchill County Sheriff's Office and NHP.
