Las Vegas Classic Roundup: Radford, Southern Illinois and North Carolina A&T post wins

LAS VEGAS — Radford outscored UC Davis 17-7 in overtime to grab a 72-62 win on the final day of the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic at Orleans Arena on Saturday.

Davis took a 58-57 lead on Chima Moneke, but four straight free throws by Ed Polite Jr. (24 points) gave Radford a 61-58 lead with 3:03 left in overtime.

Siler Schneider closed it to 61-60 with 2:16 left, but Radford finished the extra period on a 12-2 run.

UC Davis struggled shooting the ball, hitting 33 percent overall, including 26 percent in the second half.

Moneke and T.J. Shorts II led UC Davis with 19 and 16 points, respectively. Carlik Jones complemented Polite Jr’s effort with 10 points.


SIU stops Duquesne

The Salukis put four players in double figures en route to winning their third game of the tournament.

Sean Lloyd led the way followed by Armon Fletcher and Aaron Cook with 12 each, and Kavion Pippen with 10.

The Salukis had a big day getting to the basket, scoring 42 points in the paint. The Salukis were outrebounded 37-27, but the played outstanding defense in holding Duquesne to 36.5 percent from the floor.

Tarin Smith of Duquesne led all scorers with 26 points. Duquesne also finished with a 3-1 record.


North Carolina A&T holds on

Four players reached double figures to lead North Carolina A&T (7-7) past Lamar (8-5), 74-70.

Femi Olujobi led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds, Davaris McGowens added 16 points and seven rebounds, and Devonte Boykins and Aaren Edmead added 10 points apiece.

Colton Weisbrod led Lamar with 22 points and James Harrison added 18. Nick Garth knocked down four 3s en route to a 12-point effort.
