Update: Charges dropped against corrections guard

The Reno District Attorney’s Office has cleared Joseph Bartlett.

A Nevada Department of Corrections guard has been arrested on suspicion of a domestic battery charge.

Joseph Bartlett, 28, of Reno, was arrested Thursday morning at 12:05 a.m. after Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a warrant service at the Northern Nevada Corrections Center for felony domestic battery with strangulation.

According to the Reno Police Department arrest report, Bartlett had allegedly gotten into a verbal fight with the victim near the 2500 block of Melody Drive in Reno around 11:30 p.m. The victim told witnesses during the fight Bartlett asked her for the dog leash and proceeded to place the leash around her neck and tighten it. The victim told police she couldn’t breathe for about 20 to 30 seconds before he let go.

Reno police officers and Carson City deputies made contact with the suspect at the Correction Center where he was arrested without incident.

Bartlett was arrested on domestic battery with strangulation and bail was set at $15,000.
