Mary Lou Maffi (Young) passed away at home on February 20,2017.


She was born on May 14, 1930, in Fallon Nevada to parents Howard and Mildred Young. She grew up in Fallon with her parents and older sister, Audrey Young (Deal). Her father owned the local jewelry store, in which she could be seen working with him. She enjoyed growing up in Fallon and liked sharing childhood stories.


She graduated from the Churchill County High School in 1948. She met Stephen J Maffi and they were married on September 19th 1948. They shared a wonderful 64 ½ years of marriage. They had four children: Martin Maffi, Arlyn Maffi, Connie Maffi, and Lynn Maffi Strasdin (David).


Mary Lou was a wonderful mother and wife. She cared for her family with love and dedication. She was a support to her husband, working with him on their dairy and ranch. She also volunteered as a Catechism teacher and in various clubs and committees.


She has three grandchildren, Brandy Maffi, Matt Maffi (Keri), and Clint Maffi-Bosco. She has three great-grandchildren, Aalana, Samantha, and Stephen Jr. and a deceased great-grandchild, Becca.


She loved all of her family, the Deals, Scholzs, Cristanis, and her friends. She enjoyed spending time camping and fishing. She also liked music, sewing, and cooking. She had a soft spot for her animals and a life full of love, joy, and laughter.She will be greatly missed.


The following services will be held for Mary Lou:


A Rosary on Monday, February 27th at 7:00 pm at The Gardens Funeral Home


A funeral on Tuesday, February 28th at 10:00 am at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, following will be a graveside service. There will be a potluck lunch at St. Patrick’s Parish hall after the graveside service.


In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St Patrick’s Catholic Church building or a charity of your choice.


Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Highway, Fallon, NV
