CHURCHILL COUNTY

2017 Youth Ski Program: With all the snow falling in the mountains this winter, why not take advantage of it and go skiing or snowboarding. Churchill County Parks and Recreation’s annual ski program is always ready to give the youth of the community a chance to hit the slopes. The trips for this year are on Jan.28 and Feb. 4. So come on out and enjoy the snow. Full package trips are available as well as ticket-only trips for children ages 8-17. Remember, adult chaperones (21+) are needed to volunteer to go on trips with us to help watch children.

Fitness Bootcamp Classes: Churchill County Parks and Recreation brings you morning fitness bootcamp classes. These classes are designed for all levels of fitness. Join Marianne Woller Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings each week at The Gym at Venturacci Park for 5 a.m. classes. The drop-in rate for each class is $5 or you can purchase a 10-class punch pass for $40. Pre-registration is preferred. All equipment will be provided by the class.

For questions on any event or program, contact the parks and recreation office at 775-423-7733.

Rattlesnake Trail Run: A 3 1/2 mile run up and down Rattlesnake Hill’s rough terrain April 1. There is a $20 entry fee for all participants or $65 for a family of four. The race begins and ends in the lot at the corner of Indian Lakes Road and Rio Vista. The event will start at 9 a.m. with registration opening at 8 a.m. for day of sign ups, and for race packet pick-up. There will be one water stop along the course to help keep everyone hydrated and ready to finish strong.
