Update, 8:16 p.m.

The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reports via Twitter that the fire is now 1,200 acres with 10 percent containment. “Helicopter, dozer continuing work, 250-300 personnel working all night. Evacuations lifted.”

Update, 7:57 p.m.

Washoe County reports via Twitter that evacuees of the Brenda Fire are being allowed to return home. The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center website reports the fire has grown to 1,000 acres.

Update, 7:10 p.m.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command reported via Twitter that U.S. 395A has been reopened.

Initial Story

A wildfire has been burning north of Washoe Lake on Brenda Way and is reportedly near houses. According to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center, the fire that began at about 3:15 p.m. and has grown to 750 acres.

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District says there are evacuations on Eastlake Blvd. from Brenda Way to Spicer, and that evacuees can go to Galena High School.

At about 5 p.m., the Nevada Department of Transportation reported on Twitter that US-395A is closed in both directions between Pagni and Eastlake.
