Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce our upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s “Into the Woods” weekends today through Aug. 6 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

Be careful what you wish for as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony-Award-winning musical. The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.

“Into the Woods, Jr.” features the talents of more than 80 local youth — ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Leading the cast is Cameron Miller, 15, who ventures into the woods as the Baker. Also featured are Kamryn Main and Kieran Dazzo as the Baker’s Wife; Cassidy Buchan and Leah Roylance as Cinderella; Natalie Maguire and Rebecca Hughey as Jack (the one with the beanstalk); Serena Dantzler and Daniella Carpenter as The Witch; Anna Roylance and Ximena Villegas Martinez as Little Red Riding Hood; and a host of young singers, dancers, actors playing all of your favorite fairytale characters.

“I am so incredibly proud of this group of amazing young people,” commented Andie Wilkerson, (formerly Andie Anderson) Artistic Director of Youth Theatre Carson City and Director of “Into the Woods, Jr.”

“Every single member of our talented young cast shines on stage with such grace and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to share all of their hard work with this community.”

Performances of “Into the Woods, Jr.” will runs July 28, 29 and Aug. 4, 5 at 7 p.m. and July 30 and Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E.
