The Greenwave baseball team received several honors this year for exceptional performance in the 3A league.

The highest honor went to Alex Mendez, who was named MVP. Mendez scored 22 runs this year, with nine doubles, seven triples, 31 RBI and a .474 batting average. As pitcher, he struck out 88, only allowing 12 base hits and 13 runs.

Hayden Strasdin and Jack Swisher were both selected for the first team All-North and Edgar Alvarado was second team. Mendez also made the first All-State team, while Strasdin and Swisher made second team. Brock Uptain received honorable mention.

Strasdin recorded a batting average of .366, scoring 10 runs with five doubles and 16 RBI. As a pitcher, he struck out 56. Swisher had a batting average of .349 with 28 runs, six doubles and seven triples. Alvarado scored 21 runs with four home runs, four triples and five doubles; he recorded an average of .348 for the season.

Baseball coach Lester de Braga could not be reached for comment.
