On March 15, the Carson City Leisure Hour Club will learn more about how scams are targeting Americans in person, on the telephone and, increasingly, on the Internet.

Lora E. Myles, Esq., will address a variety of these issues and provide advice on how to avoid being a victim of fraud.

Myles was raised in Reno and received graduate degrees from the University of Nevada, Reno, and Vermont Law School.

She has been the attorney for the Carson and Rural Elder Law Program for 21 years. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the National Guardianship Association.

Myles has written or co-written several pieces of legislation which are now Nevada law, including revisions to the Public Guardian and Public Administrator statute, the Guardianship statute, the Power of Attorney statutes, and the statutes protecting cemeteries.

She also has experience as a caregiver, having cared for grandmothers, an aunt, uncles, and her father.

To hear her presentation, call the club’s reservation chair at 775-400-2647 no later than Thursday. The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. in the Carson Nugget Capitol Ballroom. Reservations for the meeting and dinner are required.
