In early February, Marianne Garvey, Nevada Certified School Nurse, reached out to Banner Health in Fallon for a donation of electric beds for her Nursing Assistant Training program at Dayton High School.

Thanks to Garvey’s initiative, Banner Health’s generosity and Lyon County School District Transportation department, the Nursing Assistant trainees of DHS will benefit from the three electric hospital beds donated to their program.

The state exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant consists of two parts, multiple choice and a hands-on skills test. In the skills portion of the exam, the students must demonstrate their aptitude for the profession. The beds used in the exam are industry standard electric beds, and prior to the donation, students only had diagrams and pictures of the electric beds.

Garvey and the students in her Nursing Assistant Program thank Banner Health for the donation.
