Nevada State Treasurer Dan Schwartz will give an update us on his plans for this year at the next Fernley Republican Women meeting at 6:30 p.m. March 21 at the Fernley High School Library, 1300 Highway 95A. A light meal will be served at 6 p.m.

Schwartz received his undergraduate degree from Princeton, J.D. (law degree) from Boston University and his MBA from Columbia. He was elected Nevada State Treasurer in 2014 and took office in January 2015.

Since taking office, he has revamped the state’s investment program and increased returns, launched a college savings program and brought unclaimed property within statutory guidelines.

Additionally, donations are sought for the group’s Caring for America/Adopt-a-Soldier program, which collects non-perishable foods for the Fernley Food Bank along with donations of funds and care items for soldiers.

Children’s books are also being collected for the Ronald McDonald House and Renown Hospital’s children’s ward. Money donations can be sent to Fernley Republican Women, P.O. Box 412, Fernley 89408.
