James E. (Gene) Parker, born on March 16, 1938 in Clinton, NC and died on March 17, 2017 in Carson City, NV.
Gene joined the Navy at a young age in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1959. His last duty assignment was Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron Eight, instilling in him a love for aircraft.
He loved the Navy, but left to marry and have a family and work in construction. He was a hard worker and was successful in the trucking business and motel business in San Jose and S. Lake Tahoe as well as securing his Private Pilot’s Certificate. He was initiated into the Operating Engineers in 1960 and retired in 1996, and was also a 40 yr. Elk member.
Upon retirement, he moved to Stagecoach, NV, building his home and enjoying RV-ing, fishing and classic vehicle restoration. Gene was very patriotic and flew our flag proudly. Following construction he lived in San Jose, Sebastopol, Fremont and Tracy, CA, and then retired to Stagecoach, NV. He was a lover of Brittany bird dogs- Ginger and Suzi-Q.
Besides his wife Shirley of 35 years, he leaves behind his daughters Johanna Miller (Jim), Julianna Moore; stepchildren Nathan Caudle, Betty Caudle; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and the best neighbors and friends you could hope for.
Gene will be laid to rest at the Northern NV Veteran’s Cemetery in Fernley.
Gene was a special breed. Those of you who knew him will understand. Our hearts are full of sorrow.
