Oasis Academy’s girls’ lacrosse team went to 4-0 after their 15-10 home victory against Spanish Springs on March 16.

Oasis Academy’s Taryn Barrenchea started the game with a goal assisted by Meeka Erwin in the first minutes of the match. Quick plays by Sadie O’Flaherty, Maiya Swan and Brooklynn Whitaker soon made the score 4-0. The Lady Cougars slipped two goals past Oasis goalie Aubrey Rasmussen, but the home team defenders quickly responded to keep the ball in their possession.

As play continued, the Oasis attackers kept the ball around Spanish Springs’ goal. Jaidyn Delgado, O’Flaherty and Swan pushed through and scored two goals each, 10-2. O’Flaherty scored again, then the Cougars took possession and raced in two more goals. At halftime the score was 11-4 and Rasmussen had six saves.

O’Flaherty opened the second half with a left shot for another goal. However, Spanish Springs took possession and broke through the Oasis defense for six goals, 12-10. Oasis grabbed the ball and drove it in for O’Flaherty’s sixth goal of the game. As the timer ran down, the Spanish Springs goalie stepped away from the goal, leading to another Oasis goal. With two minutes left, Oasis won the draw and used quick footwork and passes to get the ball into Cougar territory; quick passes and a dodge around a defender let Swan fire in a final goal to end the game.

In the second half, Madison Brennan took the goal to save two shots.

Oasis plays at home tomorrow against the Reno Lady Huskies. The game begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Churchill County Regional Park fields.
