An option for Mother’s Day festivities is the annual RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival this weekend.

The event at Mills Park features music, carnival rides, craft vendors and food.

“There will be skate lessons, prizes. It’s good for kids to get out, get some exercise and learn something,” said Susan Haas, Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program executive director and CEO. “You’ll help us assist veterans and seniors maintain their independence with dignity.”

The free-admission event runs Thursday and Friday from 5-10 p.m., Saturday, noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 8 p.m.

Family night is Thursday when all rides are $1, sponsored by Campagni Auto Group. Otherwise, a $30 ticket is good for all rides. A $5 discount is available at the RSVP Beer Booth or the organization’s office at 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 6.

The WheelHouse is putting on a skate expo and DJ Kudos Crew will play music on Saturday and Sunday from 3-7 p.m.

It’s the 32nd annual carnival for RSVP, which serves senior citizens throughout rural Nevada.

RSVP will be holding four carnivals this year, including one at the new Carson City Fair on July 27-30.
