Carson High swimmers advance to state

Carson High’s swim teams finished third and sixth, respectively, at the NIAA 4A Regional Swimming and Diving Championships at the Carson Aquatic Center on Saturday.

The Carson boys were third with 320 points, well behind Douglas’ 424. Reno won the girls title with 376 and Carson was sixth with 187 points.

Brett Kolb and Matthew Hill qualified for state in two events apiece, and Reece Canfield qualified in one event.

Kolb was second in the 500 free (4:55.94) and second in the 200 free (1:47.94). Hill was second in the 50 free (23.17) and third in the 100 free (50.42). Canfield was second in the 100 butterfly (54.14).

Carson also advanced its 200 and 400-yard free relay squads.

On the girls side, Carson’s 200-yard free relay team moved on with a second-place finish. No CHS swimmers in individual events moved on.

The state meet is next Saturday at the Carson Aquatic Center.
