Summer reading program begins

Building a Better World is underway in our summer reading program. Come to the library and sign up if you haven’t already. This program is fun-filled for the entire family. Self-directed activities are available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Special programs are every Thursday. Pick up a program at the library for details. Children can earn a book a week to enhance their home library. Join the fun!

Coding Workshops

Learn to code utilizing NCLab (Network Computing Lab) an open public cloud computing platform that empowers future coders, engineers and scientists by providing engaging self-paced and self-graded courses in essential STEM subjects. After your design is complete print it on a 3D printer. Workshops will be held on Friday June 30, July 21 and August 25 from 2-4 p.m. Recommended age is 10 and up. This program is in partnership with the Churchill County District Attorney’s Office and is taught by Deputy District Attorney Joe Sanford.

Story Time

Story time is every Wednesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. Join us for stories, songs, a craft and valuable tips to help your child get ready to read.

Knitting Club

Share what you’re working on or get ideas on your knitting project. The Knitting Club meets every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon.

New and Noteworthy

“A House Among the Trees”: A Novel by Julia Glass — The latest book by the National Book Award author tells the story of the unusual bond between a world-famous author and his assistant. Julia Glass is one of the best storytellers around.

“Compact Farms: 15 Proven Plans for Market Farms on 5 Acres or Less” by Josh Volk — This book is full of pictures, graphs, ideas, tips for operating and managing a small farm from layouts through planting, harvesting and getting crops to market.
