Hoefer reprises her role at Barkley Theatre

Tickets remain for Saturday’s performance of “The Other Mozart,” which is the true, forgotten story of Nannerl Mozart, the sister of Amadeus.

Actress Samantha Hoefer appears at 8 p.m. at the Barkley Theatre in the Oats Park Art Center, 151 E. Park St. For information on the show, call 775-423-1440.

“The Other Mozart” was presented in Salzburg, Austria at the invitation of the Mozarteum Foundation at the Mozart Wohnhaus (inside the Mozarts’ apartment) and by the Mozarteum University, as part of the now annual Symposium on Nannerl Mozart, which the play inspired into creation in Germany at the Pasinger Fabrik in Munich, and in Estonia, Tyrol and at the University of Toronto, Canada.

Hoefer grew up in Hamburg, Germany and was part of the Task acting school where she studied under Andreas Mohrhagen. Upon graduation she traveled to France and worked at the Theatre Chaudron in Paris. At the prestigious Thalia Theatre in Hamburg, she performed in Judasevangelium directed by the famed Hungarian film director Kornel Mundruczo (Delta and White God), in Reckless by Cornelia Funke directed by Marco Storman, and worked with Alia Luque on Blind Date, adapted from the movie by Stanley Tucci.

In her short time in New York, Hoefer starred as the lead in The Curious Savage and Six Degrees of Separation at the Studio Theatre. She co-wrote and starred in NowhereNowHere — a play directed by John Gould Rubin and Kat Yen at the Theatre Lab, in Little Wars, written and directed by Steven Carl McCasland at the Clarion Theatre, and at the Theatre for the New City in The New Trial — by Peter Weiss and directed by Dennis Yueh-Yeh Li.

Her feature film debut, Mudbound, under director Dee Rees premiered at Sundance in 2017 with full theatrical release coming in the fall 2017. She is fluent in four languages and will next bring this Mozart’s story back to Europe in Nannerl’s mother tongue.
