Local man faces two felony assault charges, says Carson City Sheriff’s Office

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

THURSDAY

At 1:31 a.m., a transient man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of violation of a restraining order, violation of bail conditions and violation of pretrial supervision after deputies responded to reports of a domestic dispute at the William Street Gold Dust West. Bail was set at $8,000.

At 6:09 a.m., a Ventura, Calif., man was arrested on suspicion of DUI, wrong way on the highway and no driver’s license in possession after deputies responded to a vehicle going the wrong way on I-580. Bail was set at $1,057.

At 9:19 a.m., a 60-year-old transient man was arrested on suspicion of three counts of threats after deputies responded to reports of a man brandishing a weapon at the William Street Smith’s. Bail was set at $1,500.

At 2:12 p.m., a 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on suspicion of contempt of court after deputies conducted a traffic stop near the 1000 block of 5th Street. Bail was set at $3,000.

At 4:34 p.m., Bruce Meyer, 48, of Moundhouse, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies responded to reports of a compliance check near the 1400 block of Roop Street. Bail was set at $3,500.

At 4:56 p.m., Thomas Thorton, 59, of Carson City was arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony parole and probation violation and obstructing after deputies responded to reports of a man threatening people with a knife at the Highway 50 Golden Gate Petroleum gas station. Bail was set at $40,300.

At 5:40 p.m., a 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of violation of a suspended sentence and contempt of court after deputies initiated a traffic stop near 5th and Division streets. Bail was set at $3,090.

At 8:20 p.m., Jesus Medina, 25, of Carson City was arrested on suspicion of felony probation violation, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, revoked driver’s license, seat belt required and improper turn at an intersection after deputies initiated a traffic stop near William Street and Saliman Road. Bail was set at $4,090.

At 11:45 p.m., Jason Cooper, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and an illegal dumping warrant after deputies initiated a traffic stop near I-580 and Highway 50. Bail was set at $4,650.

The Nevada Appeal only names people arrested on suspicion of felonies and violent crimes. Carson City Secret Witness will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals committing crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call 775-322-4900.
