Fallon fell to South Tahoe’s Lady Vikings at home Wednesday, losing in four sets.

The Lady Wave won the first set 25-15, but lost the next three 25-18, 29-27 and 25-17.

The night was a repeat of last week’s match against Lowry. The Wave started strong in the first set, waging a fierce battle against South Tahoe and taking an early lead. While the Lady Vikings closed in, Fallon shot back ahead and claimed a win.

The second set opened in a back and forth stalemate. The Wave broke away, though, and started opening their lead. At 12-6, the Lady Vikings rallied and pulled back with a scoring spree that tied the match at 12 points. The score tied again at 13, then Tahoe shot ahead for the win.

Fallon tried to recover in the third set, going all out. The Wave took an early lead, but South Tahoe pulled them back to within a point. Fallon held onto the lead but the Vikings tied the set at 24; the teams battled through the stalemate as each gained set point. In the end, South Tahoe claimed a second win as Fallon hit the ball out of bounds.

In the final set South Tahoe gained an early lead and held it throughout. While Fallon tried to pull back, they could not get back into the match; the home team continually hit the ball into the net or sent it flying out of bounds. Late in the set the Wave started slowly gaining on the Vikings; it was not to be, though, and a shot into the net closed the match.

The Lady Wave travels to Dayton on Monday. The varsity match begins at 6 p.m.
