LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska (20-22) scored runs in five innings and defeated the University of Nevada (21-19) baseball team 12-5 on Saturday at Hawks Field.
The Cornhuskers won all three games of the non-conference series as the Wolf Pack dropped its season-high sixth game in a row.
The Cornhuskers scored twice in the first inning, four times in the second and added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to build an 8-0 advantage.
Nebraska starting pitcher Luis Alvarado did not allow a hit until Jaylon McLaughlin singled leading off the sixth inning. Pack third baseman Joshua Zamora got the second hit off Alvarado, leading off the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run to get Nevada on the scoreboard.
Nebraska scored four times in the bottom of the seventh. Nevada scored four times in the ninth inning to make the final scored 12-5.
Mark Nowaczewski (4-4) allowed six runs on five hits and suffered the loss. Alvarado (3-5) earned the win, surrendering one run on two hits in eight innings.
Nevada begins a five-game homestand hosting Sacramento State on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
