Ex-Carson High star named summer league pitcher of the week

Bryce Moyle, a 2017 Carson High graduate, was named as the West Coast League Pitcher of the Week for July 22 after two outstanding performances.

Moyle, who just completed his freshman season this past spring for Washington State, is having an outstanding season in the WCL summer college league for the Walla Walla (Wash.) Sweets.

Moyle was honored for his start against the Cowlitz Black Bears at Borleske on July 21 when he was lights out. He earned the win in the outing by tossing six shutout innings with 11 strikeouts, allowing three hits.

He utilized location and a slew of off-speed pitches to keep the Black Bears’ hitters off balance, leading the Sweets to a 9-0 victory. Moyle also made an appearance against the Bellingham Bells a few days prior and went two innings while allowing just one hit and struck out two batters, so for the week he pitched eight scoreless innings.

The talented left-hander put together a strong summer campaign for the Sweets, finishing second in the league with a 2.09 earned run average. He made 11 appearances and nine starts, striking out 50 over 47 1/3 innings and finished with a 4-2 record.

Other highlights during the summer for Moyle came in a 9-0 win over the Cowlitz Black Bears and a 2-0 win over the Wenatchee AppleSox.

Moyle got the start for Walla Walla against Cowlitz and was exceptional throughout his outing. In that game he also struck out 11 through six shutout innings, finishing strong as he struck on the side in the fifth and sixth innings.

Moyle also got the start against Wenatchee and again pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits while striking out five.
