Lady Wave volleyball drops season opener

The season didn’t start in Fallon’s favor with the Lady Wave volleyball team dropping straight sets to Wooster on Thursday in Reno.

The Colts defeated Fallon, 25-14, 25-10 and 25-18. Fallon hosted Sparks on Tuesday in both the home and 3A opener.

Junior Karlee Hitchcock led Fallon with five kills and .357 attack percentage and senior Taylor Ingram also had five kills for a .278 attack percentage. Hitchcock also had Fallon’s lone service ace and led the team in block solos with three. Junior Kinsli Rogne finished with two kills and junior Makenzee Moretto, senior Lorynn Fagg and sophomore Madison Whitaker each had one.

Ingram led with five digs, Fagg had four and Hitchcock and Journey Martin each had three. Senior Rylee Buckmaster and Whitaker each had one block solo. Senior Shelbi Schultz had eight assists and Buckmaster added four.


Wave boys tennis upends Incline, girls fall

Fallon’s boys tennis team — fielding only seven players — knocked off Incline, 10-8.

Seniors Alex Perazzo and Trent Nuckolss each finished 2-1 in singles while sophomore Rian Smith dropped his three matches. In doubles, senior Compton Lords and junior Ben Jamieson, and freshmen Owen Palmer and Nathan Lords each swept their three matches to power the Greenwave in their opener. Fallon forfeited the No. 3 doubles team.

Fallon hosted North Tahoe on Tuesday.

For the Lady Wave, they fell to the Highlanders, 12-6, on Thursday. Only six matches (out of 18) were contested due to forfeits.

The girls soccer team also lost its season opener, 8-0, to Galena.
