Elko, Spring Creek take down Fallon volleyball

After opening league play with a win over Sparks, Fallon’s volleyball team dropped back-to-back matches on the road over Labor Day weekend.

Playing in their fourth and fifth matches in nine days to open the season, the Lady Wave (0-1) fell to Elko in straight games on Friday and lost in four to Spring Creek on Saturday. Fallon returns home this week to face Lassen for a non-league contest on Thursday before hosting North Valleys on Monday and traveling to Fernley the next day.

Elko stayed perfect in league by sweeping Fallon on Friday, 25-19, 25-13 and 25-17.

Junior Karlee Hitchcock and senior Taylor Ingram led Fallon in kills with two each, and seniors Shelbi Schultz and Journey Martin, and juniors Kinsli Rogne and Ashley Agaman each had one. Hitchcock also led the team with two aces and four total blocks (three assist and one solo) while Martin had one ace.

Junior Makenzee Moretto had two total blocks (one solo and one assist), and Schultz and Rogne each had one block assist. Ingram led Fallon with 11 digs followed by Martin and senior Lorynn Fagg each having nine. Agaman also had three digs. Schultz finished with five assists.

Against Spring Creek, Fallon fell 25-16, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-18 on Saturday.

Hitchcock had another strong performance, leading Fallon with seven kills, three aces and two total blocks (one solo and one assist). Senior Rylee Buckmaster had four kills, and Moretto, Rogne and sophomore Madison Whitaker each had three. Rogne also had a block solo and block assist.

Fagg and Martin tied for the team lead in digs with 11 and Ingram had eight. Buckmaster added eight assists and Schultz had six.


Tennis teams sweep North Tahoe

The Lady Wave tennis team picked up an 8-6 win last week over North Tahoe. Fallon hosted North Valleys on Tuesday and travels to Sparks on Thursday.

The Greenwave boys tennis team stayed perfect with a forfeit victory over North Tahoe and traveled to North Valleys on Tuesday. Sparks comes to Fallon on Thursday.


Soccer teams fall to South Tahoe

Fallon’s boys team dropped an 8-0 decision to South Tahoe last week and hosted North Valleys on Tuesday. Fallon travels to Incline on Friday before hosting Sparks next Tuesday.

The Lady Wave dropped their season opener to South Tahoe last week, 4-0. Fallon traveled to North Valleys on Tuesday and hosts Incline on Friday before traveling to Sparks next Tuesday.
