The Nevada Commission for Women has set an empowerment workshop for Sept. 28. The event will be held in the legislative building and is designed to encourage women to apply for and serve on government boards and commissions.
A spokesman said only 40 percent of the members of the boards listed on the governor’s website are women. There are a total of 120 different boards and commissions.
The speakers for the event are Supreme Court Justice Lidia Stiglich, Carson City Supervisor Karen Abowd, Jonathan Boulware of Jacobs Entertainment and Pam Roberts of the Nevada women’s lobby. The workshop begins at 10:30 a.m. in Room 3100.
