Bible thought: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18, NASB)

In a recent men’s Bible study, we were challenged to choose a Bible passage and, based upon that scripture, write out a personal life purpose statement. During the following week I chose the verse in today’s Bible thought and wrote the following.

I believe that my personal earthly purpose in life is to abide in the presence of God beholding his glory and being continually changed into his image step by step in stages ever more glorious by his spirit in me. This verse tells me that there is hope for me to make spiritual progress until God calls me home. I commit myself this day to keep beholding him, trusting him, and yielding to him.

This purpose statement has changed my daily time of prayer and meditation. It is changing my thinking as I endeavor to see and behold and dwell in God’s glory continually. I am being blessed.

Change my heart, O God. Make it ever new.

Change my heart, O God. Make me more like You.

You are the potter. I am the clay;

Mold me and make me. This is what I pray. (Eddie Espinosa, 1982)
