The Board of Supervisors should have a short meeting Thursday.
After a couple of special presentations and the consent agenda, the board will take up two items.
One is to approve allocation of $470,532 in Community Development Block Grant money for fiscal year 2020.
Of that, 10 percent or $47,053 goes toward grant administration. A maximum of 15 percent is for public services and a minimum is for public facilities and improvements.
An Application Review Work Group is recommending $32,000 for Ron Wood Family Resource Center’s Chronic Absenteeism program, and $7,500 to Nevada Rural RSVP’s Veterans Services and Support for the public services portion.
For public facilities, the work group is recommending $227,979 for the Public Works’ project for ADA-compliance work on Airport Road, and $156,000 for Parks, Recreation and Open Space’s Ross Gold Park ADA Restroom Renovation Project.
The board will also vote whether to approve the Cultural Commission’s fiscal year 2019 Annual Report and 2020 Work Plan after hearing a presentation from Mark Salinas, arts and culture coordinator.
The annual report includes accomplishments such as a new city web page for the arts, a new $8,000 grant for cultural events, and the $14,000 Big read grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The 2020 work plan includes a retreat for the commission and the finalization of policies and procedures for public art, a task carried over from 2019.
