Nevada Assembly Republicans praise Sisolak pledge not to raise taxes

Assembly Republican leadership issued a statement Thursday praising Gov. Steve Sisolak’s pledge not to try to raise taxes.

Sisolak made the pledge in his State of the State address Wednesday evening.

Minority Leader Jim Wheeler, R-Gardnerville, said he was also encouraged by Sisolak’s promise to work across the aisle but “we hope that Nevada’s economic gains are not blunted by unreasonable policies.”

Deputy Minority Leader John Ellison, R-Elko also said the speech contained a lot of good information.

“I am concerned about the nuts and bolts of his plan because we cannot afford to lose any of our best programs in order to afford the new ones.”

Both said they look forward to the opportunity to work with the governor.
