The 15th annual Fallon Shootout, a double elimination tournament hosted by Youth Co-Ed Basketball, will be held March 1-3 at the gym at Venturacci Park. Cost for entry is $175 per team. Deadline to enter is Feb. 15 (full entry or nonrefundable $75 deposit). A free event T-shirt is guaranteed for all players if registered by Feb. 15. Divisions are first to third grade, fourth to sixth grade and seventh and eighth grade with a limit of eight teams per division. The host hotel is Comfort Inn. Call 775-423-5554 for details. Dog obedience classes for puppies and adults are available Monday nights beginning Feb. 25 through April 1. Class times are 5:30 to 6 p.m. for puppy classes (9 weeks to 6 months old) and 6:35 to 7:35 p.m. for beginner/intermediate (6 months and older only). The cost is $65 for a six-week session, with some discounts available. Dogs will learn how to focus on the owner/handler, how to perform basic commands and basic obedience skills. Owners will learn respect for their pets and how to control them correctly. Bring soft treats for the dog and soft shoes for the handler. Buckle collar and fabric leashes for the dogs. Proof of current shots is required. Pre-registration is required at the Churchill County Parks and Recreation Office. Call 775-423-7733.


Dance instructor Alice Orsley presents Fitness line dancing classes from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays from Jan. 31 to March 7 at the Churchill County Fairgrounds multipurpose building, 225 Sheckler Road in Fallon. The cost is $35 for six weeks, preregistered, or $8 for a single day as space allows. Family discounts are available. Beginning to intermediate level dances are available for ages 13 and older. Sign-ups are available for Diamond Peak’s 2019 ski program. The cost is $240 for a full package, including lift ticket, rentals and lessons. Ticket only for ages 13 to 18 is $200, $175 for ages 8 to 12. A ticket-only package includes lift ticket and transportation. Dates are Jan. 26, Feb. 2 and 9. Churchill County Parks and Recreation is offering a Fast Pitch Softball Clinic from Jan. 8 to March 7 for 6- to 18-year-olds. Join instructor Tammie Shemenski for a winter of instruction and practice. Each athlete receives a clinic shirt. Participants are asked to bring a glove and wear athletic clothing and sneakers. Clinic times are 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11 a.m. to noon Sundays for 13- to 18-year-olds and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 to 11 a.m. Sundays for 6- to 12-year-olds. A parent is required to stay for the 6 to 12 age group. Clinics are at the City-County Gym at Ventaracci Park. Cost is $50 per person.
