Zita Marie Waclo and Stephen Winto Waclo of Carson City celebrated 50 years of marriage on Jan. 25.

They were married in St. Jane de Chantalle in Rockville, Md., on Jan. 25, 1969.

Steve and Zita met while she was generously performing housework for her recently widowed uncle and was doing such a fine job, Steve knew right away she was a keeper. Also, she responded in the affirmative when asked if she was a “Monty Python” fan. For Zita, it was love at first sight.

The Waclos have three sons, David and Matthew Waclo, who live in Reno, and the eldest Thomas Jennings resides in Tahoe City. They have six grandchildren, beginning with Louie, the oldest at 6, then Penelope, Josie, Fiona, Margo and Slater, and a baby girl due in February.

Steve is a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. degree, now retired. Zita retired at the end of 2018 following 50 years as a registered nurse, most recently with Carson Tahoe Regional Health Cancer Center.

The Waclos recently returned from a two-week Florida vacation including three days in Key West.
