Nevada Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson and Senate Majority Leader Kelvin Atkinson pushed the buttons on the state museum’s 150-year-old coin press on Wednesday to stamp the first two 2019 Legislature’s commemorative medallions.

Because of its age, the press is used only to stamp 50-cent sized medallions instead of dollar-sized coins.

Each of the legislative leaders will receive the coin they stamped at Wednesday’s event. Both bear the historic CC mark designating them as products of the Carson City Mint as well as the state seal.
