Arson is suspected in the Wednesday morning fire that burnt four vehicles in a Carson City apartment complex.

Carson City Fire Chief Sean Salmon said Wednesday evening that about $50,000 to $70,000 worth of damage was caused at the Brown Street apartment complex.

Carson City Dispatch received multiple 911 calls at 3:54 a.m. regarding a vehicle on fire in the 1700 block of Brown Street, said Carson City Ken Sheriff Furlong.

He says a 911 caller said one car was on fire and the flames were spreading quickly to other vehicles at the complex in the 1700 block of Brown Street.

No injuries were reported.

Salmon said fire investigators determined the fire was suspicious in nature and believed accelerants were used.

He said previous reports that there was an explosion were not accurate. Slamon said no evidence of an explosive device was found.

Slamon said there have been multiple fires in Carson City. On June 23, a townhouse that was under construction was set ablaze off of Little Lane. Slamon also said there were multiple fires between July 4-6.

Anyone with any information about any of the fires is asked to contact the Carson City Communications Division at 775-887-2677 or 775 887-FIRE or 775-887-COPS.
