Children, teens, and adults are invited to sign up for the Summer Reading Program (SRP) beginning May 28. SRP is designed to encourage children to read during the summer months to prevent the “summer slide” and to have fun in the process. Studies show that when children see adults reading they want to read too. And that books in the home help children read more and that reading at an early age results in success on all levels later in life.

“Space” is this year’s theme and the library has related activities and programming planned through July. Children can earn a book to keep weekly by keeping a reading log which the library provides. Children’s librarian Jes MacDiarmid has been purchasing space related materials to check out and also to use in the library for months.

Join the fun this summer at the library through A Universe of Stories!
