Oasis Academy, which finished No. 2 in the 1A West behind 2019 state champ Virginia City, will compete in the 1A West/Central tournament in Tonopah on Saturday.

The Bighorns are having their best season with only one loss on record (8-1), which came in a 3-0 sweep to the Muckers in Virginia City last month. Oasis Academy swept Pyramid Lake and Excel Christian Academy last week.

In their final home game of the season on Friday, coach Shayna Byrd and athletics director Dusty Casey honored the team’s three seniors: Sadie O’Flaherty, Taryn Barrenchea and Sequoya Casey.

The Lady Wave volleyball team came back from a 3-0 setback to cross-valley rival Fernley to defeat Lowry, 3-1, on Saturday to conclude the regular season.

Fallon, which finished 3-5, will host Lowry on Friday in the season finale because there is no league or regional tournament this season.

Girls Golf
Fallon junior Lainee Reid tied for first in the second-to-last golf tournament of the season.
Reid carded a 97, which tied her with Spring Creek’s Jordan Maher, a senior, during last week’s tournament in Spring Creek. Maher, though, defeated Reid in a one-hole playoff.

Junior Gabby Loop finished with a 129, followed by a quartet of freshmen who shot in the low-to-mid 100s. Hannah Benjamin recorded a 133, followed by Madison Lewis with a 138. Justice Freeman finished with a 150 and Ava Faught had a 151.

Fallon competed in Elko on Monday for the final tournament of the season.

Cross Country
Oasis Academy’s cross country team competed in the 1A/2A regional championship meet on Saturday in Carson City.

Kailey Poracky finished the course in 33 minutes, 19 seconds, while Gavin Bracken ended with a 24:45 for the boys followed by Connor Oceguera at 25:04.

Fallon will compete in the 3A regional meet on Saturday at Reed High School and Shadow Mountain. The boys race is scheduled to run at 12:15 p.m. followed by the girls at 1:05 p.m. There is no state meet. Cameron Christy and Gerik Wassmuth will run in the boys division while Savanna Regli and Zoey Brown will compete in the girls.
