Carson High graduate and Bryan College freshman Zach Sever made history for the Lions on April 10, becoming the first Lion freshman to qualify and run at NAIA cross country nationals since 2013.
Sever put together a time of 26:56.58 in the 8K race to finish 166th out of 317 qualified runners.
Per Bryan College athletics, Sever was 27 seconds off the pace of the last Bryan College freshman to run at the NAIA nationals, Tyler Boone.
“Zach is just a freshman and shows our future is bright. He also has a host of teammates that look to accompany him to this meet next season. Zach ran a (personal best) this weekend on a muddy, sloppy course and I know he gained confidence and experience going into next year," said Bryan College head coach Josh Bradley.
