Carson City Sheriff’s Office arrests two for multiple vehicle burglaries

Two people were arrested Wednesday and have admitted to a string of vehicle burglaries, according to a news release from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
David Bennett and Katerina Rakow are suspected in multiple vehicle burglaries throughout Carson City and Lyon County over a two-week period, the release said. Bennett and Rakow confessed to their involvement in the burglaries.

On Wednesday, the CCSO investigations division, with the assistance of Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Storey County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies, executed search warrants on a Storey County home and vehicle.Stolen property and evidence from the vehicle burglaries were recovered from the home and the vehicle Bennett and Rakow used in the commission of their crimes, according to the release.
Bennett and Rakow are in custody at the CCSO Detention Center. Bennett is charged with burglary of a motor vehicle, fraudulent use of a credit card and obtaining money under false pretenses.
Rakow is being charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit burglary.
