VFW and Fallon Youth Club honor students

Teri Korsma, center, and John Schoemeier, right, present Fallon Youth Club Director Shannon Goodrick with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Citizen Award. The award was approved by the VFW national headquarters. Korsma, post commander, and Schoemeier, the post’s senior vice commander, are with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1002 in Fallon. This was mainly for the students’ efforts in raising money for the VFW’s National Buddy Poppie Program.

Navy veteran Mike Terry, who has overseen the Patriots Pen essay contest and the Voice of Democracy essay and speech contests for a number of years, discusses the program with students at the Fallon Youth Center. Terry also talked about his service in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
