Carson, Storey, Douglas, Lyon report COVID-19 deaths

Carson City Health and Human Services on Thursday reported 10 deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad County region between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1.
Four deaths were reported in Carson City, three in Lyon County, two in Douglas County and one in Storey County.
For the week, CCHHS also reported 185 new cases, and 203 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 21,622, with 16,558 recoveries and 384 deaths; 4,680 cases remain active.

Carson City had 4 deaths, 68 new cases, and 68 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 7 new cases per day with a 6.0% test positivity rate.
Douglas County had 2 deaths, 40 new cases, and 66 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 5 new cases per day with a 13.0% test positivity rate.
Lyon County had 3 deaths, 69 new cases, and 66 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 10 new cases per day with a 12.3% test positivity rate.
Storey County had 1 death, 8 new cases. and 3 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 7.7% test positivity rate.
 
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
 
As of December 1, 2021, approximately 210,859 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 73,898 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 86,980 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 96,436 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna. This number also includes those who completed the series). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.
In Carson City, 33,380 residents have been completely vaccinated and 36,921 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 61.4% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Douglas County, 25,394 residents have been completely vaccinated and 28,132 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 53.4% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Lyon County, 27,403 residents have been completely vaccinated and 30,495 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 49.2% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Storey County, 803 residents have been completely vaccinated and 888 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 19.7% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
 
Quad-County Breakthrough Cases 
Vaccine breakthrough cases are individuals who test positive for COVID-19 14 or more days after they have completed all recommended doses of an FDA authorized COVID-19 vaccine. A complete vaccination is two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson and Johnson (Janssen) vaccine. Since February 1, 2021, breakthrough cases make up of 14 percent of all cases ages 12 years and older.
 
Upcoming CCHHS Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
 
All vaccines are available on a walk-in basis at every event for first, second, and third doses for those who are immunocompromised. Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen booster doses are available for those who are eligible. Pediatric Pfizer available for those ages 5 to 11 years. Due to a drastic decrease in demand, CCHHS will be suspending COVID-19 testing. This includes community-based testing and testing onsite at CCHHS in Carson City.
