 Reclamation announces fire restrictions for northern Nevada to reduce wildfire risks
The Bureau of Reclamation implemented fire restrictions to reduce wildfire risks on public lands managed by the Lahontan Basin Area Office in Storey, Washoe, Lyon and Churchill counties effective at 12:01 a.m. on June 30, 2021, and shall remain in effect until October 31, 2021, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.The fire restrictions prohibit all campfires and barbeques, except as allowed in the Lahontan State Recreation Area. Portable stoves and lanterns using gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel outside of a developed fee campground or picnic area are allowed. Visitors should use these items carefully and carry shovels, water and fire extinguishers as a precaution.Other restrictions include:No motor vehicles or internal combustion engines off established roads or trails. No possession or use of fireworks.No target shooting with incendiary, tracer, steel core, armor-piercing or exploding ammunition or targets made of material that could explode or emit sparks.View the fire-restriction area map and the fire order at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/lbao/index.html.Contact the Lahontan Basin Area Office in Carson City for more information at 775-882-3436 (TTY 800-877-8339).
