The additional damage reportedly included at least one Spring Valley home.
The fire threatened about 800 homes around Holbrook Junction as it burned toward Topaz Ranch Estates, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It damaged power lines, and threatened cell towers and a water treatment plant, according to the announcement issued on Thursday. The grant will allow recovery of up to three-quarters of firefighting costs.
Official acreage numbers were more than 24 hours old by Thursday night when mapping at nevadafireinfo.org indicated it had grown to 57,000 acres. Most of that growth occurred in Douglas County.
The cost of fighting the fire reached $8.7 million, according to the situation report issued Friday morning by the National Interagency Coordination Center.
Another 140 firefighters joined the fight, including two additional hand crews and four more engines, to bring the total force to 1,353 personnel.
Electricity remained off on Friday morning to 1,281 NV Energy customers, but it was estimated power would be turned back on 10-10:15 a.m., depending on the fire.
Highway 395 remains closed today, as does Highway 88. The fire was 4 percent contained on Friday morning, entirely on its north flank near Woodfords.
