An ex-felon with outstanding warrants was arrested by Carson City Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday after a stop for speeding revealed a “substantial amount of methamphetamine” in the vehicle he was driving, according to a CCSO news release.
During the “Click It or Ticket” Joining Forces event Saturday, Carson City Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on a white SUV for speeding and attempting to elude, according to the release. Deputies eventually made contact with the driver when he pulled into a dead-end off of Airport Road.
The driver attempted to hide his identity, however, was identified as Augustine R. Garcia, an ex-felon with outstanding arrest warrants. Garcia was taken into custody for the outstanding warrants and traffic violations.
A substantial amount of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun were located inside Garcia’s vehicle, the release said. Garcia was also booked on the additional charges of drug possession and possession of drugs for sale as well as possession of a handgun by a prohibited person.
