The Carson City Library's Summer Learning Challenge is back for 2021. Library patrons can preregister for the challenge today. This year's challenge will kick off in the library's garden from 10 a.m. to noon on June 12.
From June 12 to July 31, Summer Learning Challenge participants complete virtual programs, activities and reading, which are different for each age group: 0-5, 6-11, 12-17 or 18+. Prizes are earned for registration and completion, and participants track all their reading time in a simple app. Everyone who registers will be eligible to receive a take-home kit, filled with activities they can log for extra raffle tickets.
“This year's theme of Tails & Tales really gives patrons a chance to learn through fun, interactive experiences,” said Creative Learning Manager Maria Klesta. "The program is online again this year, with exciting virtual programs from incredible partners like Project WILD, Eco Adventures and Living Coast Discovery Center."
Grand Prize raffle winners will be chosen via online drawing and awarded by age group, and participants can take a look at the grand prizes in the library's display case throughout the challenge.
The more virtual programs attended, activities completed and hours read, the more raffle tickets earned. All logging and ticket collection is done via an online app called Beanstack.
