Editor's note: This story has been corrected to reflect $50,000, not $450,000, of firefighter equipment was found.
The state Fire Marshal’s office and Lyon County deputies this week arrested a 29-year-old Dayton man on arson charges.
Kevin Matthew Critor was taken into custody as he allegedly was attempting to set a fire in the area of Cash Drive and Carry Way.
A spokesman said he is also a suspect in several other arson fires in that area. The investigation began June 14 because of a vehicle arson in the area. Investigators found several other arson fires in the Mound House industrial area and burglaries in fire stations in Douglas, Washoe and Lyon counties.
When arrested, officials say Critor had a firefighter badge and a firearm in his possession.
After getting a search warrant for his house, investigators say they found more than $50,000 in firefighter equipment, uniforms and ID cards as well as public safety radios. He also had a retired fire engine with operating emergency lights and siren.
Critor is charged with three counts of arson, 15 counts of possessing stolen property, three counts of tampering with a fire hydrant, two counts of impersonating a public officer, two counts of possessing a controlled substance and one as a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
