Nine Carson City businesses fail alcohol compliance check

On June 24, 2021, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers in conjunction with Partnership Carson City conducted an alcohol compliance check. This was conducted with the support of three 20-year-olds who were sent into local restaurants in an attempt to purchase alcohol. 

When asked for ID, each would present their real identification cards. In total, 15 businesses were screened during the compliance check and nine of those businesses failed the check. Compliance checks are conducted to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors. The following is the list of the nine Carson City businesses that were cited for failing the compliance check:
  • Denny’s 2299 N. Carson St.
  • Maria’s Mexican 1939 N. Carson St.
  • Francisco’s 1200 S. Stewart St.
  • Bella Vita Bistro 1304 S. Stewart St. 
  • Chipotle 1457 S. Carson St.
  • Mi Casa Too 3809 N. Carson St.
  • Vino’s Pizza 3228 N. Carson St. 
  • Nationals Café 444 E. William St. Suite 6
  • Capital City Sushi 399 N. Carson St.

 

Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Partnership Carson City remind businesses to be diligent in checking identification to ensure those purchasing alcohol are 21 years of age or older. It is Nevada law to check identification when selling or serving alcohol. If you have any questions on compliance checks, you may email msmith@carson.org. 

 

Partnership Carson City, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and School Resource Officers offer a Responsible Beverage Server Training course for anyone who sells and/or serves alcohol, tobacco, or marijuana products in Carson City. The next Responsible Beverage Server Training course takes place Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $20. The course is open to anyone who would like to learn about Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) in Carson City and is conducted at the Partnership Carson City office at 1925 N. Carson St.  

 

Per the Nevada Revised Statuses 4.13.170, anyone who sells or serves alcohol is legally required to complete the training. The webinar includes alcohol awareness and reviews the Carson City laws for selling or serving liquor, marijuana, and tobacco as well as how to spot a fake ID and how to be aware of the levels of impairment.
