GAME 1: FALLON 6, ELKO 3
Misjudged fly balls led to an explosive inning for Fallon Wednesday (April 28) as the Lady Wave scored nine runs in the fourth frame and another run in the fifth to record a 12-2 win in Northern 3A-East softball at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex.
Fallon unleashed its bats against Elko after beginning the bottom of the fourth inning with one out after Savana Manha popped up in foul territory.

Shaylee Fagg singled to center field and then advanced to second base on a steal. Trinity Helton’s ground-ball single scored Fagg to break the tie. Shaylee Coldwell’s fly ball dropped for an RBI single to double the lead.

Two batters later, Fallon had two outs before causing more damage against Elko.

Starting pitcher Rachel Mori ripped a two-run double followed by Kiley Wallace’s high fly ball to right field that was misjudged for an error. Mori scored to give the Wave a 7-2 lead.

Another outfield error on Lydia Bergman’s fly ball allowed Wallace to score, and Bergman advanced to second. Bergman scored on a passed ball, and Manha, who walked in her second plate appearance of the inning, eventually scored. Fagg also walked.

Coldwell lifted a fly ball in her second plate appearance, and she reached base on an infield error, while Fagg scored.

The game ended in the bottom of the fifth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule.

With one out, Mori singled, and Wallace followed with a double.

Fallon took the game’s first lead on Bergman’s two-run homer in the first inning. Elko tied the game in the top of the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk and Alexis Schweer’s one-out single.

The Wave banged out 10 hits against Elko pitcher Rylee Ferguson with Wallace, Mori and Coldwell each having two hits.
Mori picked up the win by allowing four hits in five innings and struck out four.
