Bad bill advancing
Experts predict big state budget boost from flood of federal funds.
I just don’t understand. The Nevada Legislature is moving SB177 through the legislative process of increasing the marriage license fee by $25 specifically to support a needed program dealing with victims of domestic violence.
Why are we increasing fees when more money is coming in than expected from federal aid or look at reducing other wasteful spending programs? I have no argument on the need for this program – I do have a problem on how the funding mechanism is being set up by increasing yet another fee.
I highly recommend you participate in the legislative process by voicing your opinion by calling, texting or emailing your state lawmakers. It is easy to watch and listen to them in action on YouTube.

Time for Farmer to retire
Mr. Farmer, again you are twisting words and manipulating your reader’s thoughts. You are creating falsehoods and misconceptions. You incite discord. It is time for you to retire.
You melded in three topics: socialism, climate change and “critical race theory” in your column last Saturday. You could not give a real, honest discussion of any of them. Biden is not telling you what to eat, drive or live. Fox News did. Climate change is dictating what our future will be.
You trashed the American Families Plan by denigrating the working class, stating they have a disdain for work. Pay them a living wage. Biden’s economy plan is to help the lower class and the economy will trickle up. People will buy things: It is as simple as that.
Then you could not cite the critical race theory correctly. Critical race theory was created by law students in the 1970s to examine the law as it intersects with issues of race and to challenge mainstream liberal approaches to racial justice. Further intellectual discussion is needed, not throwing out fear mongering, illiterate discourse. You and the white man of the past are living this theory.
Also, you forgot to mention that Biden in a press conference when asked, said “No, I don’t believe Americans are racist.” Be thorough, do not throw out half-truths.
